Health-Care Worker During COVID-19
This Visa option allows you to immigrate as a permanent resident in Canada if you’re a refugee claimant who has worked a minimum number of hours within Canada’s health-care sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. You must also provide direct patient care, as part of your job role.
Providing you have met all of the eligibility requirements, you can apply if you are a pending or failed refugee claimant who made a claim before March 13, 2020, and you live in Canada. Or if you are the common-law partner or spouse of a refugee claimant, and have been in Canada since August 14, 2020 or if the refugee claimant contracted and passed away of COVID-19.
You have the option of earning your permanent residence (PR) in Canada with this Visa. This provides you with all of the benefits of being a citizen, except for voting in elections, and joining the military.
